Emergency air medical program and Evanston Regional Hospital celebrate the arrival of the area’s newest asset

EVANSTON, WY, Sept. 29, 2025 – The ribbon was cut on Wyoming Life Flight’s newest emergency air medical helicopter during a ceremony on Monday at Evanston Regional Hospital where the aircraft is based. This new base supports a critical ecosystem of care across the region with the Wyoming Life Flight helicopter and fixed wing bases in Casper, sister AirLife Utah bases in Brigham City and Lehi, and Air Idaho Rescue bases in Idaho Falls, Driggs, and Salmon, as well as in West Yellowstone, MT. Together, they serve the entire state of Wyoming, northern Utah, eastern Idaho, and western Montana with critical lifesaving care. All three programs are part of Air Methods, the nation’s leading air medical service provider.

“We are grateful to be here and be part of this community,” said Stacy Stokes, flight nurse and base outreach coordinator with Wyoming Life Flight. “Being able to have a helicopter in Uinta County to take care of people and get them to a hospital in a matter of minutes is vital, especially for pregnant women since so many labor and delivery units have closed. We are thankful to work closely with Evanston Regional Hospital and appreciate the warm welcome we have received.”

Hospital staff and first responders from Evanston Regional Hospital, Valley View Emergency Physicians, South Lincoln Medical Center, Ogden Regional Hospital, HCA Mountain Division, University of Utah Hospital, Quorum Health, Uinta County EMS and Fire, Uinta County Sheriff, South Lincoln County EMS, Uinta County Dispatch, Uinta County Search and Rescue, and South Lincoln County Search and Rescue, as well as the Evanston Chamber of Commerce and Evanston Mayor Kent Williams, joined the Wyoming Life Flight crew for the event.

“For too long, individuals in rural areas have faced challenges in receiving timely medical attention during emergencies,” said Bob Moore, interim CEO of Evanston Regional Hospital. “Whether due to vast distances, weather, challenging terrains, or limited ground transport options, the need for an efficient emergency response has been clear. Today, we take a step to address this crucial need through the efforts of Air Methods, Wyoming Life Flight, and Evanston Regional Hospital.”

The new base is staffed with best-in-class flight nurses and paramedics who provide critical care for trauma, heart attacks, strokes, high-risk obstetric needs, pediatric emergencies, burns, motor vehicle accidents, and other time-sensitive medical events. Their AS350 helicopter is equipped with advanced medical equipment and medications onboard, allowing it to function as a flying ICU. Crews carry whole blood which can be administered on scene or in flight, significantly increasing positive outcomes for patients. They also carry a Zoll AutoPulse ® NXT device, which administers automatic, high-quality chest compressions in flight, allowing clinicians to focus on other essential interventions for patients in cardiac emergencies.

“Increasing access to the healthcare we all need is so important,” said Air Methods Area Manager Corey Ellis. “Evanston has needed an air resource for a long time, so we are happy we are here to provide this critical service to this community.”
