Specialty Transports

Our clinicians are trained and ready to provide critical care transport to your patients receiving Impella device therapy, intra-aortic balloon pump therapy (IABP), high-risk OB critical care, ECMO, as well as NICU/PICU transports.

Our commitment to deliver specialized critical care for patients to tertiary care facilities is our primary goal. Our aircraft is staffed with critical care flight nurses and flight paramedics who have undergone extensive training and displayed full competency in the care of patients needing specialized transport.

IMPELLA DEVICE AND BALLOON PUMP THERAPY

  • Flight crews undergo annual recurrent training in the care of patients on Impella device and IABP therapy, including simulation training and cardiovascular clinicals in certain areas.
  • Every patient chart is reviewed by senior clinical leadership for appropriate care and documentation of Impella device and IABP therapy.
  • We also have the ability to monitor additional invasive lines including pulmonary artery catheters, CVP, and arterial lines. Our teams can continue, titrate, and add multiple hemodynamic medications throughout transport while also providing full pulmonary support through invasive or noninvasive ventilation strategies.
  • There is no need to send your staff on the transfer.

Impella device therapy

  • Every training center has Impella devices to conduct hands-on training and simulation.
  • Through a partnership with Abiomed, our clinical educators have been certified as Impella device trainers.
  • Our crews are trained to operate on all sizes of Impella device models, including Impella RP with SmartAssist®.

Balloon Pump Therapy

  • Our crews are trained to operate a variety of different balloon pump models. Please check with your local program to see which balloon pump model is used in that area.
  • Capabilities for either fiber optic pressure or transduced pressure.

ECMO therapy

  • Experienced in transport of patients on cardiac assist devices (Impella, IABP, LVAD, ECMO).
  • Capable of transporting TandemLife and Cardiohelp systems and all other ECMO devices with Perfusionist.
  • Packed red blood cells and plasma available onboard aircraft.
  • Fully capable critical care ventilator with ability to administer continuous inhaled medications.
  • Management and titration of numerous medication infusions.

High-risk ob and pediatric/Neonatal critical care
