AutoPulse® NXT device provides advanced cardiac care by delivering uninterrupted, high-quality compressions during transport

SIDNEY, NY – Aug. 28, 2025 – As it approaches its 15 years of service to the community, LifeNet of New York’s 7-8 Sidney base is reinforcing its commitment to clinical excellence and innovation by integrating the ZOLL AutoPulse® NXT automated CPR device into its emergency air medical operations. As part of Air Methods, the nation’s leading air medical service provider, LifeNet 7-8 joins a nationwide initiative to integrate this life-saving technology into all of their community-based aircraft nationwide.

The ZOLL AutoPulse NXT is a cutting-edge tool designed to improve outcomes for cardiac arrest patients. The device delivers consistent, high-quality chest compressions without interruption, allowing medical crews to remain safely restrained during flight and focus on other critical interventions. In just three months since Air Methods’ nationwide rollout, the ZOLL AutoPulse® NXT is already saving lives, with data indicating a 150% increase in safe transports during continuous CPR and nearly 10% more cardiac arrest patients regaining a heartbeat mid-flight.

“Performing high-quality CPR during air transport used to require tough choices between patient care and crew safety,” said Dr. Stephanie Queen, Senior Vice President of Clinical Services at Air Methods. “This device eliminates that trade-off, allowing us to deliver lifesaving care without compromising safety.”

Unlike manual CPR, which can be exhausting and variable, the AutoPulse NXT provides uninterrupted compressions throughout transport—vital when every second counts. The device is especially impactful during rapid transports to PCI-capable hospitals or ECMO centers, where early and continuous CPR can make the difference between life and death.

“The AutoPulse NXT is a game-changer,” said Flight Paramedic Chuck Barringer. “It delivers continuous, high-quality chest compressions throughout transport, dramatically improving care for our patients. At the same time, it frees our crews to concentrate on diagnosing and treating the underlying causes of cardiac arrest. This technology elevates the level of care we provide while enhancing crew safety.”

The Sidney base is one of 12 LifeNet of New York locations providing critical care air transport 24/7/365. Operating as flying intensive care units, their teams respond to a wide range of emergencies, including cardiac events, strokes, trauma, burns, and other life-threatening conditions.

In addition to investing in advanced medical tools like AutoPulse NXT, LifeNet of New York remains committed to patient access and affordability. The program is in-network with most major insurance providers and offers a robust Patient Advocacy Program to assist patients and families, regardless of insurance status.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, LifeNet of New York 7-8 in Sidney, will proudly celebrate 15 years of service to the community. Over the past decade and a half, the base has grown into a vital resource for rural and urban healthcare partners, delivering high-quality, rapid-response critical care when it’s needed most.

“As we mark 15 years of lifesaving service, we’re reminded why we do this work,” added Barringer. “Our commitment to our patients, our community, and advancing care never stops.”
