WATKINS GLEN, NY – June 24, 2025 – LifeNet of New York was proud to support this year’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, held June 19–21 at the historic Watkins Glen International in New York’s Finger Lakes region. As a highlight of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the third leg of the prestigious Michelin Endurance Cup, this iconic endurance race attracted elite drivers, world-class manufacturers, and thousands of fans from across the country.

To ensure medical readiness throughout the multi-day event, LifeNet of New York deployed dedicated medical airframes equipped with ICU-level resources and staffed by highly trained critical care teams, including experienced flight paramedics, nurses, pilots, and aviation mechanics.

“LifeNet is proud to have delivered world-class air medical support to one of the most renowned endurance races in North America,” said Bill Stubba, regional field operations manager at Air Methods, LifeNet of New York’s parent company. “Our team worked in close coordination with race officials, local emergency services, and healthcare partners to ensure comprehensive, seamless care for both participants and spectators at Watkins Glen.”

LifeNet’s highly trained flight teams are equipped with critical care capabilities, essential and lifesaving medical devices, and the medications needed to manage trauma while in flight to a hospital. They also carry blood that can be administered in flight, provide advanced airway intervention, and can perform the pre-hospital procedures needed to give patients the best chance at a positive recovery. Their ability to bring ICU-level care directly to the scene plays a critical role in improving outcomes during time-sensitive emergencies.

“When it comes to delivering critical care during a large-scale event like this, collaboration is everything,” said Erik Zeiner, LifeNet of New York flight nurse. “We train constantly with our partners to prepare for any scenario—whether it’s a trauma incident on the track or a medical emergency in the crowd. With our advanced equipment and flight expertise, we’re able to bring ICU-level care directly to patients. We were honored to stand alongside first responders and healthcare providers to support the safety of everyone involved.”

For more than 30 years, the LifeNet of New York program has been a trusted provider of air medical services, transporting over 65,000 patients across the state. As part of Air Methods, the leading air medical provider in the United States, LifeNet offers both rotor wing and fixed wing services through 12 bases across the state. This network of care ensures that patients can be transported rapidly to the appropriate medical facility, playing a crucial role in both rural and urban areas where timely medical intervention can be a matter of life and death.

LifeNet of New York is committed to providing air medical services to all members of the communities they serve and is in-network with most major health insurance providers for emergency air medical services. Additionally, their patient advocacy program works with all patients, regardless of insurance, to ensure affordability.
