Working in conjunction with the local Board of County Commissioners, Calhoun Liberty Hospital provides emergency medical services to the citizens and visitors of Calhoun County. The EMS department, which responds to about 4,000 calls for service annually, also provides interfacility transport services for patients that require specialty services not available at Calhoun-Liberty Hospital. In addition, Calhoun Liberty EMS offers a robust critical care ground transport service to healthcare facilities in Northwest Florida, ensuring that needs of the region are met, and patients receive the highest level of care during their transport.

“Our top priority is doing our best for the communities we serve and that means investing in resources, training and education,” said Calhoun Liberty EMS Director Jake Shuler. “We are confident that Air Methods Ascend will help ensure our EMTs and paramedics remain updated on the latest medical best practices to provide the best patient care.”

Ascend’s offerings of innovative online education programs include EMS Review for emergency medical responders seeking to advance their training, help improve emergent patient outcomes and meet their continuing education needs. Courses meet certification requirements for the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN), Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), and International Board of Specialty Certifications (IBSC).

Ascend’s in-person and online education programs provide access to world-class educators, state-of-the-art tools, and cutting-edge technologies to help pre-hospital and critical care clinicians build their knowledge, enabling them to operate at the top of their licensure and fulfill continuing education requirements. Education programs include advanced manikin-based simulation and virtual reality training that mirror real-world patient care scenarios, building life-saving skills and confidence.

“We are excited to offer our online training program to the team at Calhoun Liberty EMS,” said Dr. Stephanie Queen, Air Methods Senior Vice President of Clinical Services. “Our online EMS review programs will provide the crew with the latest clinical techniques and practices to continue to provide the best possible care for their patients.”
