Air Methods Salutes National Hire a Veteran Day: Dan Moore Share On... by Air Methods posted July 17, 2025 HAGERSTOWN, MD – July 17, 2025 – In recognition of National Hire a Veteran Day on July 25, Air Methods is proud to celebrate the contributions of military veterans across its ranks, including one of their own, LifeNet 8-1 Pilot Dan Moore. A U.S. Army veteran and former National Guard crew chief, Moore’s journey from military service to saving lives in the skies is a testament to the impact veterans can have long after they retire their military uniform. Moore’s dream of becoming an EMS helicopter pilot took root during his time in flight school in 1998. After years of dedicated military service and flight experience, including flying the UH-72 Lakota in the National Guard, Moore transitioned into civilian EMS aviation more than a decade ago, finding his professional home with Air Methods. Today, he flies life-saving missions for patients across Western Maryland and surrounding areas as a pilot for LifeNet 8-1 in Hagerstown, MD. “Air Methods is a fantastic company to work for, and I appreciate their culture of safety,” said Moore, crediting his military training with preparing him for the rigors and responsibilities of EMS aviation. “Air Methods always supported my time in the National Guard and was accommodating when it came to scheduling. That was a big stress relief.” With over a decade of service in air medical operations, Moore says he’s proud to be part of the Air Methods family and hopes to continue flying for many years to come, calling it a great part of his personal and professional life. Veterans like Moore are essential to Air Methods’ mission of delivering critical care when every second counts. The company is deeply committed to supporting those who’ve served, recognizing the unmatched value that veterans bring through their leadership, discipline, and operational expertise. “Veterans possess a unique blend of leadership, resilience, and mission-first mentality that aligns seamlessly with the demands of emergency air medical services,” said Paul Williams, Vice President of Talent Acquisition at Air Methods. “We’re not only grateful for their service, we’re intentional about creating career pathways that honor their skills and support their transition. People like Dan Moore are incredible examples of how military experience translates into lifesaving impact.” Transitioning from military to civilian aviation can be a significant shift, but Air Methods is dedicated to making that transition as seamless as possible. The company offers a robust military transition program led by a team of veterans and active reservists who have successfully navigated the path themselves. This team works one-on-one with service members to demystify the hiring process and provide the support they need to launch a successful civilian career in air medical services.
