Air Methods Business Manager Named Inaugural Recipient of AAMS “40 Under 40: Rising Leaders in Medical Transport” Award

WORCESTER, MA – October 29, 2025 – Air Methods, the nation’s largest air medical services provider, is proud to announce that, Nicholas North, Business Manager serving its partner program, UMASS Memorial LifeFlight, has been named a recipient of the inaugural “40 Under 40: Rising Leaders in Medical Transport” award, presented by the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS). This prestigious recognition honors North’s exceptional leadership, dedication, and contributions to the air medical and critical care transport industry.

Selected from a pool of over 120 highly qualified nominees, North stood out for his remarkable achievements, clear leadership trajectory, and commitment to advancing the field of critical care transport. The award, judged by a panel of senior industry leaders, celebrates emerging professionals who are shaping the future of medical transport.

“Known for his strategic vision, deep commitment to customer partnerships, and unwavering dedication to improving access to lifesaving care, Nick continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in air medical services,” said Air Methods Regional Director Travis Mason. “His passion, professionalism, and drive have made him an invaluable part of our mission and a true leader in the industry.”

As part of the “40 Under 40” recognition, North was honored at AMTC25 in Omaha, NE, where he participated in a roundtable discussion, awards reception, and received a commemorative Rising Leaders medallion. He will be profiled in the Air Medical Transport Journal, the AAMS website, and other industry platforms, joining a network of peers committed to advancing the future of medical transport.

In his role as a Business Manager for Air Methods, North oversees the operational and strategic management of the UMass Memorial LifeFlight program. He works closely with clinical, aviation, and hospital partners to ensure high-quality, efficient, and safe transport operations that meet the region’s critical care needs. His leadership has strengthened collaboration between Air Methods and UMass Memorial Health, ensuring seamless integration of air medical services with hospital systems and regional emergency response networks.

North brings more than a decade of experience in air medical operations. Before joining Air Methods, he served in various positions within emergency medical services, including serving as a flight clinician for Air Methods’ LifeNet of New York program and UMASS Memorial LifeFlight program. His background includes direct clinical experience in critical care transport, giving him a unique perspective that bridges the operational and patient-care aspects of the field.
