After a brief introduction of the program to the community, both the LifeNet 1-4 crew and the members of the Chamber of Commerce made their way to the nearby aircraft. After plenty of photos and a brief countdown, Neff and other members of the flight team officially cut the ribbon. LifeNet 1-4 operates in an Airbus H130 aircraft, which is renowned for its exceptional reliability and minimal maintenance downtime. It is fully equipped with the advanced medical equipment and medications required to function as a flying ICU. The industry-leading flight nurses and paramedics carry blood on board, allowing them to administer this lifesaving resource at a trauma scene or in flight. Since opening in November 2025, LifeNet 1-4 has already transported over 90 patients across the Siouxland region. As part of the Nebraska-Iowa ecosystem, the new base joined LifeNet rotor-wing bases in Columbus, Kearney, Norfolk, North Platte, Omaha, and the StarCare base in Crete, as well as fixed-wing aircraft in North Platte. Air Methods is also partners with Unity Point LifeFlight, MercyOne AirMed and the University of Iowa AirCare, adding another 10 aircraft across the Hawkeye State. “We knew this area needed additional aircraft to provide care,” said Area Manager Craig Marshall. “Air Methods and LifeNet of the Heartlands is so proud to be able to be able to provide life-saving services throughout Sioux City and the entire Siouxland region.” Air Methods is dedicated to serving communities across Iowa, Nebraska, and beyond. The company is in-network with most health insurance providers, and the Air Methods patient advocacy program works with all patients, regardless of insurance, to help ensure the affordability of air medical services.
