Air medical base brings lifesaving resource to Uinta County and surrounding communities, including in Utah

EVANSTON, WY – Aug. 27, 2025 – Air Methods, the nation’s leading air medical service provider, is excited to launch Wyoming Life Flight 3 in Evanston. The new base opened this week at Evanston Regional Hospital to provide enhanced, rapid emergency care for residents and visitors throughout southwestern Wyoming and northeastern Utah, further expanding the reach of Wyoming Life Flight’s critical care ecosystem across the region. It joins sister Wyoming Life Flight bases in Casper where the program has both rotor wing and fixed wing bases, as well as AirLife Utah’s rotor wing bases in Brigham City and Lehi. Both programs are part of Air Methods.

The base operates 24/7 to respond to trauma events, heart attacks, strokes, pediatric emergencies, burns, motor vehicle accidents, and other time-sensitive medical events. The highly specialized crew is also equipped to provide critical care to maternity, high-risk obstetrics, and neonatal patients, which is vital in this region, cutting transport times in half compared to going by ground. Wyoming Life Flight will also provide critical interfacility transport for patients needing to move between hospitals for specialized care.

“We’re excited to bring the people of Uinta County and the surrounding areas faster access to advanced critical care,” said Air Methods Account Executive Erik Bornemeier. “Wyoming Life Flight is committed to being mission-ready whenever and wherever our services are needed, ensuring patients receive the highest level of care in their most critical moments.”

Wyoming Life Flight 3, which operates an AS350 helicopter, is equipped with advanced medical equipment and medications onboard, allowing it to function as a flying ICU. The best-in-class flight nurses and paramedics carry whole blood that they can administer on scene or in flight, significantly increasing positive outcomes for patients. They also carry a Zoll AutoPulse ® NXT device, which administers automatic, high-quality chest compressions in flight, allowing clinicians to provide other critical care for patients suffering from cardiac emergencies.

“Having Wyoming Life Flight establish a permanent base on Evanston’s helipad is a tremendous benefit to our community,” said Bob Moore, interim CEO of Evanston Regional Hospital. “This collaboration will significantly reduce transfer times—often cutting them in half—helping patients experiencing emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, or high-risk obstetric situations receive timely, specialized care. We believe their presence will give our community added peace of mind, knowing that advanced air medical transport is available right here in Evanston.” Air Methods is dedicated to serving communities across Wyoming, Utah, and beyond. The company is in-network with most health insurance providers, and the Air Methods patient advocacy program works with all patients, regardless of insurance, to help ensure the affordability of air medical services without the need for pre-paid air medical memberships.
