Commitment to safety and outstanding patient care.
Always ready to respond when it matters most.
Our patient advocates are standing by.
Studies have shown patients who have suffered significant trauma stand a better chance of survival after receiving blood immediately. Air Methods has over 100 bases now carrying blood in flight, and growing.
Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) includes a voluntary audit every three years to establish we meet and exceed industry-wide standards. These standards address not only the quality of patient care, education of medical personnel, and medical equipment, but also operational and safety concerns. Achieving CAMTS accreditation is a mark of excellence for a critical care transport program. The Air Methods’ standard is for all CBS programs to earn CAMTS after one year of service.
Air Methods has invested over $100 million in advanced safety programs and technologies.
Air Methods’ development and investment in safety programs, including IEP, FOQA and SMS, is unmatched in the air medical industry.
Air Methods was the first air medical provider to implement crash-resistant fuel systems on AS350 and EC130 aircraft.
Every Air Methods aircraft is fully equipped with advanced technology including NVIS (Night Vision Imaging System), HTAWS (Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems), ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast), and XM/GPS satellite tracking
Air Methods is installing Honeywell Tracker III, a real-time safety tracking system, on all aircraft for enhanced crew and patient safety above FAA requirements.
We are committed to providing our requestors with the most accurate ETE possible, so that you can focus on the patient, not when your transport will arrive.
Air medical transport ETE (Estimated Time Enroute) is a best estimate for when you can expect your transport to arrive. Receiving an ETE means that dispatch will add estimated lift time and flight time to give you a number of minutes that you can expect our aircraft to arrive. Only receiving part of this equation can lead to misleading transport timing.
Air Methods is one of the only air medical providers to train pilots on Level-D full-motion simulators that replicate an actual helicopter. Our pilots have completed nearly 500,000 take offs and landings on full-motion simulators.
Over the last few years, we have made significant investments to ensure patients are taken out of the middle.
Air Methods is an in-network provider with many insurance companies throughout the country, including Medicare and Medicaid. We are actively negotiating with others so that we can partner with as many insurance companies as possible. We have increased the number of in-network agreements we have with commercial health plans by five-fold over the last several years.
For those patients not in-network, our Patient Advocacy Program helps patients navigate the confusing and arduous insurance billing and appeals process and provides them with the information they need to come to a financially sustainable resolution to their claim.
At Air Methods, we’re ready to save lives at every moment of every day, with over 300 bases of operations, serving 49 states.
