Q. Do most employer-sponsored or private insurance plans cover air medical transport and at what percentage?
A. Most insurance plans do cover medically necessary air medical transports. There are many types of insurance plans, and the coverages can vary from policy to policy. Please review your actual insurance policy to determine the specifics of your plan.
Q. Does Medicare and Medicaid reimburse for air medical transport?
A. Medicare Part B does provide coverage for reasonable and necessary air medical transport. Most states Medicaid programs also cover medically necessary air medical transport.
Q. Does Air Methods disclose my personal health information?
A. Please refer to our Notice of Privacy Practices for instances when your personal health information may be released.
Q. How is air medical services billed? Per transport? Per mile? Per hour?
A. A base rate and a loaded mile fee structure is used to determine the charge for air medical services provided.
Q. Who do I contact if I have a question on my Explanation of Benefits (EOB)?
A. Your insurance company is best equipped to answer questions regarding how they processed a claim.
