Certification
In 2008, the Products Division earned Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) status from the FAA. Air Methods is only one of four ODAs in the entire country, and the only ODA not affiliated with an airframe manufacturer. This designation allows us to conduct Supplemental Type Certification activities, either on-site or at an off-site approved facility, with minimal FAA involvement, resulting in shorter certification flow time. The ODA staff of Authorized Representatives – Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs), Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DARs) and Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representatives (DMIRs) – can provide a turnkey certification program from program planning through flight test, evaluation, and aircraft delivery.
Our certification staff can also support data approval requirements for field approvals throughout the U.S. and coordinate certification activities with international aviation authorities including the CAA (Canada), EASA (Europe), JCAB (Japan) and KBHB (Korea).
