Major Insurance Plans

Most commercial insurance, employer group plans and government programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and TriCare cover medically necessary ambulance transportation.

A patient’s insurance information should be provided to the crew member at the time of service to expedite claim processing. If a patient is unable to provide insurance information during this time, the patient or guarantor should contact the Air Methods Patient Business Services office at (800) 499-9495 with this information as soon as possible. Until the insurance information is received, an invoice will be sent to the patient to obtain the information to proceed with the claims process. Air Methods Patient Business Services will submit a claim to the insurance company as a courtesy to patients.

Patients who do not have an insurance policy that covers air ambulance transportation will receive an invoice that includes an itemized list of charges for the services provided. Payment of the account is required within thirty (30) days of receipt of the invoice.
